Full Answer

Doug Lamborn is the incumbent Colorado District 5 Congressman. He is currently serving his fourth consecutive term in this office, having first been elected to it in 2006. Lamborn served in the Colorado House from 1995 to 1998 and the Colorado State Senate from 1998 to 2006. He is reported to be supportive of small government, lower taxes and a strong national defense.

Bentely Rayburn is a frequent candidate for Colorado District 5 and is known for having been a USAF Major General, as well as for being the founding president of Covenant College and Theological Seminary. He reports leaving the military to pursue broader governmental issues through providing leadership on current state and national concerns. These issues include stronger immigration control, protecting the privacy of citizens, protecting veteran pensions and keeping decisions regarding education at a local level. He also believes that the government should be smaller and less involved in the everyday lives of citizens and that its budget should be better controlled.
