Jeffrey Dahmer murdered 17 people, all males. During those murders he also raped, dismembered and cannibalized his victims. Necrophilia was also involved in his crime spree.
Jeffrey Dahmer was caught on July 22, 1991 after police officers found a victim of Jeffrey's running down the street, handcuffed. When police questioned the victim, they were led to Dahmer's apartment, where the found a horrific scene. After a search of the apartment, police found photo albums with photos of body parts, as well as human remains. The heads of some of Dahmer's victims were found in the freezer and the refrigerator, with two skulls on top of a computer. Police also found a 57-gallon drum that held decomposing bodies in chemicals. Evidence also suggested some of those victims were being eaten by Dahmer. Neighbors had complained of a foul smell coming from the apartment, but Dahmer explained it away as spoiled meat.
A forensic examination of Dahmer's apartment found 11 victims, the first of whom had disappeared in March 1989. Dahmer used the insanity defense at trial, but the jury rejected that defense. Dahmer was sentenced to 15 life terms, but was ultimately killed by a fellow inmate in prison on Nov. 28, 1994.
