Dialing 411 for a reverse cellphone look-up does not work in Canada. Wireless directory assistance includes provisions for an opt-in reverse cellphone directory, but all participating carriers are exclusive to the U.S. market.
The proposed opt-in directory is not operational as of 2015, as stated by the Federal Communications Commission. The carriers involved in the project are Sprint, T-Mobile, AT&T and the now-defunct Alltel, none of which offer service to Canadian customers.
Directory assistance via 411 is accessible across both the United States and Canada, and both Canadian and American landline numbers are available via reverse look-up. Overseas and toll-free directory assistance is offered on a carrier-by-carrier basis. Dialing instructions for these forms of assistance are available from the caller's telephone company or wireless carrier.
