Full Answer

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation is a nonprofit organization aimed at promoting patriotism, economic opportunity, personal freedom and global democracy. The library run on the premises houses more than 55 million personal letters and documents from Reagan's tenures as governor of California and president, respectively. It also holds a collection of 40,000 gifts and other items of significance to Reagan and his wife, Nancy. Since June 2004, the remains of Reagan himself are also interred in a vault on the property.

The Reagan Library is the largest federally operated presidential library, and its address references Reagan's place as 40th president. It is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day, as of 2015. In 2007, Polish president Lech Kaczynski visited the library to induct Reagan into the Order of the White Eagle posthumously, Poland's highest honor. It was also the site of the 2008 Republican primary debate and, in January 2015, the library was tabbed to hold the second 2016 Republican primary debate.
