After filing the application, the head of the household or a member of the household is interviewed. The person being interviewed must know about the household's food situation. Households containing elderly or disabled people may qualify for consideration regardless of the amount of gross income.

During the interview, you may be asked to provide proof of identity, immigration status or citizenship and proof of household income. Anybody with little or no income is eligible to receive Compass food stamp benefits within a period of 7 days. Those determined eligible for benefits receive them within 30 days. These benefits are issued on Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, which is used in all EBT-approved food retailers.

Compass food stamps allow customers to apply for food stamps over the Internet and to check their eligibility for other social services programs. Customers who already have an account with Compass can check the status of their applications online. A food stamp recipient can also make changes to his household food circumstances by contacting Georgia Compass.
