Chad Littlefield, born in 1977, was killed at a shooting range south of Fort Worth, Texas, in early 2013. He was not in the military, but was enthusiastic about assisting veterans. He was murdered along with his friend Chris Kyle, a Navy SEAL veteran, by an Iraq war veteran named Eddie Ray Routh.
Littlefield had been assisting Kyle with his reintegration into civilian life on the day that the pair were shot. The obituary submitted by his family to the Midlothian Funeral Home noted this fact, reading: "As he tried to help another, his life was taken from him suddenly and unexpectedly." The obituary also made reference to Littlefield's strong Christian faith. On the day before his death, he informed his mother that he wanted to refresh his memory of Bible stories to read to his young daughter, Morgan.
Before he was killed, Chad Littlefield was employed as a logistics manager for Eagle Labs, a water purification company, in DeSoto, Texas. His father had worked as a high school football coach.
Littlefield lived with his wife, Leanne, who worked as an assistant principal at a middle school in Midlothian. Littlefield was buried at Mount Zion cemetery on February 8, 2013.
