Adult applicants can submit applications for Social Security disability benefits online provided that they are not already receiving Social Security benefits based on their own work records. They must also have a qualifying disability and must not have been denied benefits in the last 60 days.
The Social Security Administration does not accept online applications from applicants younger than 18. To qualify for benefits, an applicant must have a medical condition that prevents him from working and has lasted at least 12 months or is expected to end in death. The SSA recommends downloading and printing the Adult Disability Checklist from its website as a guide to gathering the information needed to complete the application.
