The local Health Department, Planned Parenthood and independent family planning centers are places individuals can go for access to free pregnancy tests. In many cases, there is a sliding fee scale for pregnancy tests and may only be free to those who are not able to pay.
The majority of places offering free pregnancy tests administer urine tests. These work best when administered four to six weeks after the suspected date of conception and using urine that has concentrated amounts of pregnancy hormone. If possible, the woman seeking the test should not urinate for at least four hours before taking a pregnancy test to insure the most accurate results.
