The Federal Bureau of Prisons provides a list and map showing all its prisons and includes the address and contact information of each facility. To access the list of federal prisons under the BOP, go to the BOP's homepage, and hover the mouse over Locations on the top menu. Choose List of our Facilities to see a list of the names of all federal prisons in the county, or select Map of our Locations to view an interactive map where the names and locations of prisons are overlaid. Alternatively, you can use the Search for a Facility option under the Locations dropdown menu if you already have the name of the prison and just wanted to check its location.

To find the location of a state prison, visit that state's Department of Corrections website to check the location of public state prisons. The Corrections Corporation of America also provides a list and map showing the location of all private prisons and detention centers it currently handles. Users may also use the search tool on the website of the Association of Private Correctional & Treatment Organizations.
