Invisibility can be achieved using the "Rochester Cloak," a device developed by scientists with the University of Rochester. Hyper Stealth produces a material which comes close to allowing complete invisibility.
The Rochester Cloak uses a series of four lenses to bend light around a circular area so that objects inside the area appear invisible. The size of the prototype Rochester Cloak is quite small. Scientists at the University of Rochester report that the design works with any size of lens. Hyper Stealth has developed a material called Quantum Stealth that can be made into blankets that are effective at providing invisibility. Photos of the material in use appear to show that it provides almost complete invisibility, with only a slight shadow visible in areas where the material is present.
