Homestead laws practiced in any of the states can be found at FindLaw. FindLaw offers individual pages for each of the 50 states that provides detailed information about the property value and acreage ranges that are covered by the local homestead law and direct links to the related legislation.
When a direct link to the legislation is unavailable, FindLaw states the code section of the law in the constitution of the state. FindLaw reports that the homestead laws of some states cover greater amounts for married couples and some others offer greater exemption for disabled U.S. Army veterans rated with 100 percent unemployability. For instance, married couples can double the exemption amount in Arkansas and disabled army veterans in Louisiana are eligible for a homestead exemption of $150,000.
