Those wanting to join the American Legion may apply online on the members page of the American Legion website.

  1. Visit the website
  2. Visit the website (members.legion.org) and select the "Yes! I would like to join and am not currently a member" option at the top of the page.

  3. Fill in the required information
  4. Fill in information such as name, gender and address. Provide a valid email address and select the branch and dates of service in the appropriate boxes. Click "Continue." Note that all fields marked with an asterisk are required.

  5. Pay the fee
  6. As of June, 2015, there is a $25 fee to join the American Legion. Enter a credit card number, expiration date and CVC number in the appropriate boxes. Verify the address used for billing, click "I have read and accept the Terms of Use" and click "Submit." A receipt for the transaction will be sent to the email address provided.

The membership is good for one year and part of the membership fee goes toward a 12-month subscription to The American Legion Magazine.
