Bastrop County Jail has 392 beds for its inmate population, as of 2016. This includes eight separation cells, eight beds in a medical unit, 23 multi-occupancy cells and 23 individual cells. A separate building has 48 beds for low-risk inmates.

In addition to county inmates, the jail houses an average of 100 federal inmates through a deal between the county, the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the U.S. Marshal’s Office. Through the deal, Bastrop County receives about $2 million dollars a year in revenue.
