Bastrop County Jail has 392 beds for its inmate population, as of 2016. This includes eight separation cells, eight beds in a medical unit, 23 multi-occupancy cells and 23 individual cells. A separate building has 48 beds for low-risk inmates.

The jail booking area includes two detoxification cells, two holding cells and one cell for dangerous inmates and those who may harm themselves. In addition to county inmates, the jail houses an average of 100 federal inmates through a deal between the county, the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the U.S. Marshal’s Office. Through the deal, Bastrop County receives about $2 million dollars a year in revenue.
