Several governors refused all or nearly all of their salaries in 2014. The governors of Alabama and Tennessee either refused to accept a pay check or returned their entire salary to the state. The governor of Florida returned all but 12 cents of his pay check and the governor of Michigan kept only one dollar of his pay. Between 2013 and 2014, the average gubernatorial salary grew by just under one percent.
