The mission of the California State Board of Equalization is to provide fair, effective and efficient tax administration to the public. It administers various tax and fee programs that support funding of city, county, state and special taxing jurisdictions. As of February 2015, tax and fee programs administered by the California State Board of Equalization include sales and use taxes, environmental fees, excise taxes, fuel taxes and property tax programs. The information required for setting up a registration profile for the online system depends on the type of permit, account or license applied for. Generally, most applicants are required to submit Social Security numbers, federal or state employer identification numbers, bank information and personal or business contact information. In addition, it may be required to submit corporation, merchant and supplier information, as applicable.
