What Is an Army OMPF?

An Army OMPF, or official military personnel file, is an official record of a serviceman's service and administrative details. Information that can be found in an OMPF includes enlistment date, qualifications, emergency data and any official administrative remarks.

As of 2014, battle participation and military engagement data are not recorded in an OMPF. Certain OMPF records contain health records that cover the treatment the serviceman received while actively serving in the military. Records include physical examination data and any routine medical care performed. As of the late 1990s, health records fall under the jurisdiction of the Department of Veterans Affairs and are no longer combined with an active OMPF.
