The American Legion's national headquarters is in downtown Indianapolis. Its facilities include a library, art gallery, museum, archives and editorial space for various publications. In addition, the headquarters includes administrative offices and meeting areas for the organization's executive committee. Staff members operate key day-to-day activities such as informational technology and fundraising out of its operations center in Lawrence, Indiana. The organization also operates a Washington office near the White House, from which it operates key political activities.
Local posts exist in major cities and towns across America and abroad. These posts facilitate the Legion's efforts to provide services such as support with Veterans Affairs claims, financial advising and career fairs. More than 2,000 of these posts have dedicated websites and publications. A full list of posts is available on the American Legion website, along with a listing of service officers, who are individuals trained to help provide free professional advice. Each U.S. state has at least one assigned service officer available for contact.Learn more about Military
