San Antonio, Texas, hosts the Randolph Air Force Base and Lackland Air Force Base. The city also hosts the U.S. Army Fort Sam Houston. These three bases were merged together under a single administration on Oct. 1, 2010, as Joint Base San Antonio.
Lackland AFB is home to the 37th Training Wing, the largest training wing in the Air Force, and also hosts the Defense Language Institute English Language Center and Inter-American Air forces Academy for international students.
Randolph AFB is home to the Air Education and Training Command, Air Force Personnel Center, Air Force Recruiting Service and the 12th Flying Training Wing.
Joint Base San Antonio is the largest Department of Defense installation and can support a population of 138,000.
