The 18th Fires Brigade is a unique unit of the United States Army comprised of members from various battalions belonging to the 82nd Airborne Division. It was activated in 1943 at Camp Cook, Calif., and participated in a number of campaigns during the WWII.
The 18th Fires Brigade has gone through many iterations during its existence, including being deactivated and later reactivated and moved to new headquarters. The unit is responsible for planning, synchronizing and employing combined fire support during campaigns in which other military units perform forced entry operations during times of war. The 18th Fires Brigade is currently headquartered at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.
