The total area of Weymouth is 21.61 miles. Wessagusett colony was a settlement founded in 1622 at Weymouth's present site. After this settlement failed to thrive, it was renamed Weymouth and re-established in 1635. The settlement consisted of 100 families. During the American Revolution, its population was approximately 1,470.
