As of 2015, the Delta Queen does not offer cruises, although her past cruises include the Sacramento River between San Francisco and Sacramento, and the Ohio, Mississippi, Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers between Cincinnati, New Orleans, St. Paul, Chattanooga and Nashville. New Orleans was her home port from 1985 until 2008.
In 1966, Congress enacted the first Safety at Sea law, restricting wooden vessels from carrying more than 50 passengers on overnight trips. However, it granted extensions at 4-year intervals allowing the Delta Queen to continue operating until 2008 when it became a floating hotel. New owners of the Delta Queen are in the process of refurbishing the 1927 steam boat with hopes of it cruising rivers again.
