Cancun, the largest city on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, enjoys tropical weather all year round. December marks the start of the dry season, which lasts until the following May. Hurricane season lasts from June until November.
Because of Cancun's tropical latitude (20 degrees north), the average temperature changes only slightly over the course of the year. The daytime temperature averages in the high 70s to 82 degrees Fahrenheit in December, compared to the high 80s or 90s in June. The driest months tend to be February through April with an average rainfall of only 2 inches per month. The rainiest months are June through October with an average of 6 inches of rainfall per month.
