Ways to find cities surrounding a specific area include consulting online maps on sites such as Google Maps or finding a regional tourism website for the desired location. Another way is to access tourism information sites for a larger city in the region and search for information on nearby towns.
To use the Google Maps option, search for a major city, and then zoom out using the navigating tools on the lower right of the screen. For example, searching for San Francisco brings up the city and parts of Daly City, to the south. Zoom out, and South San Francisco and San Bruno show up. Keep zooming, and the entire San Francisco Bay Area is revealed, including Oakland, Alameda and Sausalito.
An example of a regional tourism website is VisitSFBayArea.com, which covers counties surrounding San Francisco Bay. On the San Francisco Bay Area Destination page, cities are listed according to popularity, location and what there is to see and do.
LATourist.com, produced by the Los Angeles Visitor Bureau, is an example of a city offering information on neighboring locales. On the visitor guide referral page, the website provides links to nearby cities such as Hollywood, Santa Monica and Anaheim. More information is provided under nearby counties, such as Orange and San Diego. This website also offers links to places farther away, such as Las Vegas and Reno, Nevada and even Arizona.
