Some ways to earn points with the Marriott rewards program include staying at a Marriott brand or partner hotel, booking group travel or using either the hotel chains' event spaces or meeting services, notes Marriott.com. Customers can also apply for a Marriott Rewards credit card through J.P. Morgan Chase and Co. to earn points.
As of 2015, Marriott rewards program members can earn points with more than 4,000 Marriott-branded hotels located in more than 70 countries and at select participating Ritz-Carlton hotels. Members receive 10 points for every dollar spent on room rates at hotel brands such as Renaissance, Autograph Collection, Fairfield Inn and Suites, Courtyard Marriott and Marriott Vacation Club. Members receive five points for every dollar spent at Residence Inn and Towne Place Suites. Those who stay at ExecuStay or Marriott Executive Apartments receive 2.5 points for every dollar spent. Marriott program members can receive up to 50,000 points or 15,000 miles for every qualifying meeting or event held at one of the Marriott brand hotels, states Marriott.com.
Customers who receive a Marriott rewards credit card have additional opportunities for earning points. For every stay at a Marriott-branded hotel, customers can receive five points for each dollar spent. They receive two points for every dollar spent on airline tickets, car rentals or restaurants and one point per dollar for all other purchases as of 2015, notes Marriott.com.
