The best time to book an international flight is usually three to five months in advance, but prices vary by region. Finding the time range in which fares are at their lowest for domestic flights is more difficult than with international flights, but six weeks in advance is often the perfect time to purchase a ticket. Many airlines release their schedules for specific routes on Monday nights so that travel agencies are able to make their offers by Tuesday morning, so these fares are usually at their lowest on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Aggregator sites and tools such as ITA Software by Google are also very useful in securing a low airline fare. The software aggregates many different airline and travel websites to find the best price and it provides a calendar that displays the cheapest days to travel within a 30-day period. Searches are filterable by both airport and airline, but the software does not cover not every airline and travel website.Learn more about Geography
