Utah is a state located in the western United States. Utah was admitted as the 45th state in 1896. In 1540, it was explored by the Spanish and was later settled by Mormons in 1847.
Utah is bordered by Colorado to the east, Wyoming to the northeast, Idaho to the north, Arizona to the south and Nevada to the west. It touches a corner of New Mexico in the far southeast corner. Utah is the most religiously homogenous state in the U.S. As of 2014, approximately 62 percent of the state’s residents are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or LDS Mormons.
