The airline's base is at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City in Metro Manila in the Philippines. It has additional hubs at Kalibo International Airport and Mactan-Cebu International Airport. The main office is at Asian Aeronautics Hangar in Pasay City in Metro Manila.
Zest Airways began as Asian Spirit in 1995 and initially flew only two flights per day from Manila to Malay. In 2008, the company was sold to AMY Holdings and re-branded itself as Zest Airways. It aligned itself with AirAsia Philippines in 2013, and in less than a year, changed its name to the current AirAsia Zest. Also in 2013, the company lost its Air Operator certificate for a variety of safety breaches but regained it in the same year.
