Use online gas location services such as GasBuddy.com and MapQuest to find the cheapest gas prices nearby. These sites allow users to enter their locations, pull up a list of local gas stations and compare prices at different locations.
GasBuddy.com presents users with a search bar to enter city or ZIP code. Upon entering a location, the site pulls up a list of the prices for nearby gas stations. Other users submit these prices based on their own experiences, and the site displays the time users submitted the prices. By clicking the Map icon to the right of the search bar, users can also display results on a Google map of the location and determine the location of specific locations.
MapQuest follows a similar format, but automatically displays a map on its home page. Users can enter their locations to see an overview of the area with all available gas stations indicated. Using the command window in the top right-hand corner of the screen, users can choose to arrange results by price or distance. The search box allows users to enter their preferred grades of fuel, including regular, mid-grade, premium and diesel. The site also offers a gas calculator, which allows users to enter trip distance, miles per gallon and price per gallon in order to calculate the actual cost of trips.
