Some U.S. states with beautiful mountain scenes are Oregon, Michigan, Colorado, Utah and Arizona, according to the Travel Away website. Alaska, Montana, California and Hawaii also boast stunning mountain views.
One of the top 50 natural wonders of the United States, according to CNN, is the mountain landscape at Colorado's Rocky Mountain National Park. The rugged peaks reach up to 14,000 feet tall where only tundra exists, a habitat with little plant growth that supports bighorn sheep, elk and bobcats. Visitors can explore the area through 350 miles of hiking and cycling trails. Hawaii also hosts beautiful mountain scenes such as the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where Mauna Loa sits at 30,000 feet tall.
Maine offers a view of Mount Katahdin, the northernmost peak of the Appalachian Trail and one of the most scenic spots on the trail. Both New Hampshire and New Jersey also provide mountain views of the Appalachians.
Visitors to Idaho can experience the starkly beautiful Sawtooth Range, dozens of jagged peaks that open onto hundreds of lakes. The mountains of Montana's Glacier National Park, complete with glaciers and lakes, offer beautiful scenes during all seasons. Both summer hikers and winter skiers can enjoy the views. Washington state also boasts many mountain views such as the 14,000-foot Mount Rainier, as well as Mount Hood, which physically resides in Oregon.
