The John Brown Wax Museum, Blackwater Falls State Park, Fort Mill Ridge Civil War Trenches and Museum, Historical River Tours – Harpers Ferry, and Wilderness Voyageurs are tourist destinations in West Virginia. The John Brown Wax Museum tells the history of John Brown, especially highlighting the man's opposition to slavery. Included is a display of John Brown's famous raid of Harpers Ferry. As of 2015, the museum houses 87 life-sized figures, and it features voice, music and animation to take visitors through the events of John Brown's life.
Blackwater Falls State Park has cabins and restaurants that are open year-round. Seasonal activities at the park include sledding in winter, and hiking is available all year. Groups can host events using the park's conference facilities.
The Fort Mill Ridge Civil War Trenches and Museum features trenches, trails and interpretive signs. The museum has a theater. The Historical River Tours at Harpers Ferry offers scenic trips up the Shenandoah River and the North Branch of the Potomac River. Wilderness Voyageurs offers whitewater rafting, road bike and mountain bike tours, kayaking, boy scout activities, and a store.
