Located in Asheville, the Biltmore Estate covers an area of 8,000 acres. Another popular tourist attraction in North Carolina is the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The park is famous for its diversity of flora and fauna, its hiking trails and the remains of structures from Southern Appalachian culture. North Carolina Zoo is popular among tourists as it is among the largest natural habitat zoos in the United States. The zoo stretches for five miles and is home to over 1,600 animals including wildlife native to Africa and North America. North Carolina also has an aquarium, which is located at four different coastal locations around the state.
