As of 2015, Dubai has only two airports for passengers: Dubai International Airport and Dubai World Central — Al Maktoum International Airport. There is also a military airfield called Al Minhad Air Base. The passenger airports are run by the Government of Dubai through Dubai Airports.
Dubai International is considered to be Dubai's primary airport and as of October 2015, has become the world's busiest airport in terms of international passengers and the third busiest in terms of overall passengers. Al Maktoum is the centerpiece of the Dubai World Central complex and is considerably less busy than Dubai International, but it has picked up during runway closures at Dubai International.
