House on the Rock in Iowa County, Wisconsin, features 14 rooms with scenic displays, gardens and alcoves. The house was completed by Alex Jordan, Jr., and it opened to the public in 1959. In addition to its interesting and unique architecture, the house is lit with Tiffany lamps, and it has various types of whimsical art, electric household decor, huge fireplaces, Oriental art and music machines.
House on the Rock is open to visitors from March to November and also during special events, such as "The Dark Side" and "Christmas at House on the Rock." Tourists can visit some interesting places in the house such as Streets of Yesterday, which features coin-operated music machines, as well as Heritage of the Sea, which features a 200-foot-long sea monster fighting a giant squid.
Visitors can also witness the world's biggest indoor carousel, which is located inside the Carousel Room. It is comprised of 239 beasts, 182 chandeliers and hundreds of hanging topless mannequins. In addition, visitors can walk through the Organ Room, which consists of large theater organs, huge red glass chandeliers and big copper vats. The Cannon Room houses the world's largest cannon, and the Infinity Room consists of 3,264 windows that provide a view of the trees and forest located at a distance as it juts out 218 feet and rises 156 feet above the valley.
