Tourists who visit the Grand Canyon in April should be prepared to dress in layers and must limit their adventures to the Canyon's South Rim. Peak season at the Grand Canyon begins in mid-May, so April vacationers typically enjoy lower rates and fewer crowds.
The North Rim of the Grand Canyon remains closed until May 15 each year, but there is plenty to see and do in the South Rim, including scenic Hermit Road and the Yavapai Museum of Geology. The Desert View Watchtower is on the list of National Historic Landmarks. All the park's free shuttle buses operate during April except for the Tusayan route.
