Adults and children alike can spend time lounging on one of Cape May's many beaches or playing in the ocean. The cape's west coast along the Delaware Bay offers calm waters in which to swim. People can also comb the beaches for Cape May diamonds, quartz pebbles that can be found on the beaches and are especially prevalent on Sunset Beach. Families can visit the Nature Center and discover facts about local wildlife. The second floor contains an observatory that faces toward the Cape May Harbor and Atlantic Ocean.
Cape May offers vacationers access to plenty of historic sites. The town itself is a National Historic District with its authentic Victorian buildings, some of which people can tour. They can also visit the Cape May Lighthouse, an 1850s-era building, standing on the tip of the cape. This still-working lighthouse also contains a visitor's center and museum.
