Southaven, Mississippi, has a number of city parks, live artistic events, historical sites and recreational opportunities. These include the Southaven Skate Park, Snowden Grove Park, DeSoto Family Theatre, Edmondson Cemetery and BankPlus Amphitheater at Snowden Grove.
Located on Rasco Road, Southaven Skate Park has a skate and in-line hockey area for those activities. Snowden Grove Park possesses several facilities, including the BankPlus Amphitheater. First opened in 2006, this 125,000-square-foot outdoor theater hosts musical acts and concerts year-round. It has 4,000 fixed seats, and room for an additional 7,000 visitors on the lawn. The venue has restroom facilities for audience convenience, as well as a large parking area, concessions, a plaza, and special VIP services for sponsors and box seat holders. Several notable bands and artists have performed in the amphitheater.
DeSoto Family Theatre is a local theater that operates on Christian principles and which seeks to provide family-oriented entertainment. The group performs at Landers Center Theatre, and puts on classic plays and musicals such as "The Sound of Music," "Annie" and "The Diary of Anne Frank."
Edmondson Cemetery is a historic cemetery that was established in 1844. It became a burial ground for Civil War soldiers, Indian traders, government officials and early settlers of the community.
