Ka'anapali Beach is the major resort area featuring posh hotels, including the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa with its swim-up bar, full service spa and adjacent golf courses. Other luxury properties include the Sheraton Maui Resort and Spa, the first hotel on Ka'anapali Beach and the Westin Maui Resort.
Lahaina was a whaling port that now serves as West Maui's cultural hub. It's filled with art galleries, restaurants and pubs. Lahaina Harbor is also the place to board a whale watching tour or a snorkeling cruise. The Old Lahaina Luau is beachfront in the heart of town.
Tour companies offer sunrise biking tours of Haleakala National Park. Guests are driven to the top of the crater in time for sunrise, and then pedal down the 23-mile route on bikes. A van accompanies the group on their way down the mountain.
