The National World War I Museum and Memorial features artifacts and displays related to World War I. Also on the grounds is the Liberty Tower, the top of which gives visitors a bird's-eye view of the city.
Located in Swope Park, the 202-acre Kansas City Zoo features animals from Africa, Australia and other parts of the world. Additional attractions are the Helzberg Penguin Plaza, Polar Bear Passage, Discovery Barn and Tiger Trail exhibits. Other outdoor activities for city visitors include a visit to Kauffman Stadium to watch the Kansas City Royals play, or recreational fun at the large Smithville Lake.
The Kansas City Symphony gives regular concerts at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. Regular series include the Classical Series, Pops Series and Holiday Series, and the symphony also gives special performances in other parts of the city.
