Fresno has a number of activities for tourists, including shopping, outdoor recreation and watching professional sports. Popular visitor destinations include the Chafee Zoo, the Fresno Art Museum, the Legion of Valor Museum and the Forestiere Underground Gardens.
The Tower District is Fresno's main area for dining out, performing arts, bars and nightclubs. It is centered around North Van Ness Avenue and East Olive Avenue. Fresno also has four shopping centers: Fashion Fair Mall, River Park, Sierra Vista Mall and Manchester Center.
A number of sports teams are based in Fresno. The Fresno Grizzlies are a minor-league affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. The Fresno Monsters are a professional hockey team affiliated with the Western States Hockey League. The Bulldogs are the football team of Fresno State University.
Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks, Millerton Lake State Recreational Area and China Peak Sky Area are nearby outdoor recreational options. Yosemite National Park is about 60 miles away. For the warm season, Fresno has two water parks: Island Water Park and Wild Water Adventure Park. For the cold season, Badger Pass Ski Area is nearby for skiing and snowboarding.
