The town of Helen, Georgia, offers hiking, ziplining, horseback riding, river tubing and many other recreational opportunities. The city is also known as "Georgia's Alpine Village" and the "Bavaria in the Northeast Georgia Mountains." Wineries and restaurants provide a special culinary experience.

Outdoor activities in the community are many. Chattahoochee Stables supplies horses for scenic rides through the North Georgia Mountains and alongside the Chattahoochee River. Cool River Adventures Zipline & Aerial Park features ziplining across the Chattahoochee River. Visitors who want a more direct experience with the water can plunge in and tube down the waterway with Cool River Tubing. Hiking, corn mazes and mini-golf are other outdoor activities that can keep tourists busy. Tourists can end the day by trying a glass of wine at one of the various local wineries or restaurants.
One particular curiosity is Charlemange's Kingdom, an Alpine model railroad layout that gives visitors a flavor of the German homeland that is so important to this community.
