Visitors can fish, surf or attend festivals at the Bogue Inlet Pier. Bogue Inlet Pier offers plenty of fishing opportunities, from fishing derbies and competitions to Take a Kid Fishing Day. Some of the local fish include bluefish, flounder, gray trout, black drum and sea mullet.
Bogue Inlet Pier is the site of many festivals and holiday celebrations, such as the Seafood Festival, 4th of July fireworks and Emerald Isle Christmas Parade. The parade culminates in a Christmas tree lighting at the nearby Merchant's Park, along with caroling and a visit from Santa Claus.
Visitors can partake in a large range of beach and water activities, such as surfing, paddle boarding, swimming and sunbathing. Visitors can also go beach driving at Ocean Drive, Black Skimmer Ramp and the Point Ramp during certain times of the year with an authorized permit.
Emerald Isle, which houses Bogue Inlet Pier, also offers plenty of activities, such as bicycling, shopping and camping. Visitors can camp out at Camp Ocean Forest, which is within walking distance of the Bogue Inlet Pier, Beachfront RV Park and Holiday Trav-L Park Resort. Cyclists can travel on the Emerald Path, an 11-mile trail that passes by Bogue Inlet Pier and extends to the Point at the west of the island and Indian Beach to the east.
