People traveling to Taiwan who need a visa can get the applications online at the official website for Taiwan's Bureau of Consular Affairs. Travelers should confirm that they need to have a Visa to enter Taiwan. For example, as of 2015, those with a United States passport that has been valid for at least 6 months can travel to Taiwan for up to 90 days without a visa.
U.S. passport holders planning to visit Taiwan for 90 to 180 days need to apply for a visitor visa. Those planning to stay for more than 180 days will need a resident visa to enter Taiwan. To get and complete an application for a visa, use the following steps:
- Go to the website for Taiwan's Bureau of Consular Affairs
- Complete the required information
- Print the form
- Sign and mail the form

Complete all of the necessary information on the application.
After the form has been filled out, print it out so that it can be mailed with the other documents required for the visa.
Sign the completed form and mail it to a Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in the U.S. Two passport sized photos, the original passport and a copy, travel itinerary, processing fee and self-addressed stamped return envelope must be included with the application.
