St. Kitts and Nevis is an island nation in the eastern end of the Caribbean Sea. It is approximately 1,200 miles southeast of Miami, Florida, and about 45 minutes from Puerto Rico by air.
St. Kitts and Nevis comprises two volcanic islands and is the smallest country in the Americas. The primary source of income in St. Kitts and Nevis is the tourism industry. The islands have many resorts and scenic beaches and are a common cruise ship destination.
The first settlers on the islands were Europeans who arrived in the 1600s and imported African slaves to harvest tobacco and sugar cane.
