The Amazon River is the second longest river in the world, and the latest discovery adds a further 75 to 92 kilometers, making it almost 6,500 kilometers long. It is the largest river in terms of the volume of water discharged. The Amazon River flows through several countries, including Peru, Bolivia, Venezuela, Guyana, Ecuador and Brazil. The mouth of the Amazon River is 320 kilometers wide and lies on the Atlantic coast.
