Peak periods are 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday. Tolls are higher during these times. Generally speaking, the more axles a vehicle has, the more the vehicle's driver is expected to pay in tolls. A toll calculator is available at the New Jersey Turnpike website.
A number of discounts are available, but the discounts usually require the use of a New Jersey E-Z Pass. Senior citizens over the age of 65 get a 10 percent discount during off-peak hours. Drivers in vehicles rated at 45 miles per gallon or better and that meet the California Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle standard also get a 10 percent discount during off-peak hours. Residents of Florence and Roebling get a discount at Interchange 6. There are also a number of discounts for trucks, buses and business or commercial accounts.
