Sandy Point State Park Beach is located on the Chesapeake Bay's northwestern shore in Anne Arundel County. Despite its modest 786-acre size, the park offers areas for ocean swimming, fishing, boating, picnicking, camping, hiking and wildlife viewing. Sandy Point State Park is cared for by Maryland's Department of Natural Resources.
The park borders the Corcoran Tract, an environmental preserve with areas for hikers and other nature lovers. In addition to its natural offerings, Sandy Point State Park also includes points of historical interest such as the Sandy Point Lighthouse. The state's Department of Natural Resources organizes nature preservation and youth programs.
