Russia is located in the northern part of Eurasia. It has 14 neighboring countries, such as China, Mongolia, North Korea, Finland, Latvia and the Ukraine, and its land stretches almost halfway around the world.
Russia is the world's largest country — encompassing nine time zones — and it has an area of more than 10.5 million miles. Russia is home to many different types of landforms and because it is so large, has a variety of climates, from humid continental climates to sub-arctic climates in the Siberian region.
Besides being surrounded by 14 different countries, Russia is also surrounded by the Kara Sea, Barents Sea, East Siberian Sea and Laptev Sea.
