The nation of Romania is located on the continent of Europe, its southeastern portion bordering the Black Sea. It is situated between 43.7 and 48.2 degrees North latitude and between 20 and 29.8 degrees East longitude.
Countries bordering Romania include Bulgaria to the south, Hungary to the northwest, Moldova to the east, Serbia to the southwest and Ukraine to the north. Romania also shares a maritime border with Turkey. Along with the other Balkan nations, Romania is considered to be part of Eastern or East Central Europe. It is the largest of the Balkan nations and its capital city, Bucharest, is located in the south-central part of the country.
