Disney World calls the scooters electric conveyance vehicles, or ECVs. The scooters feature four wheels and hold a maximum of 450 pounds. Only one person may ride on an ECV at a time.

The electric scooter is only available for use at the park from which it was rented. The renter cannot remove the scooter from the park. Visitors who visit more than one Disney park in a day may rent a scooter at the second park if one is available at no additional cost. The user returns the scooter at the first park to get her deposit back. At the second park, she shows her receipt for the earlier rental and presents the deposit at the second park.

Disney World does not take advance reservations for ECVs. The scooters are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Guests are not guaranteed scooters for rent upon arrival at a Disney park or Downtown Disney. At the end of the day, the scooter must go back to the original rental location. This return entitles the renter to receive her deposit.
