Brazilian passports cannot technically be renewed, as it is necessary to apply for a new passport when the old one is expiring. To apply for a new passport, individuals must first complete, print and sign the online electronic passport form available on any Brazilian consulate's website.
In addition to the completed passport form, individuals must also submit one recent passport photo on a white background. It is also necessary to submit the original expiring passport, as well as a copy of this passport. If the old passport has a green cover, it is necessary to submit copies of pages one, two and three. For those with a blue passport, copies of pages two and three are required, as well as an official document showing the names of the applicant's parents.
The applicant must also submit a Brazilian electoral justice document proving that she voted in the last election, while men aged 18 to 45 must also submit the original and a copy of their Brazilian military enlistment document.
Once all of the required documents have been acquired and completed, the applicant must then submit the documents along with the required passport fee to the appropriate office. For Brazilians in the United States or another foreign country, passport applications can be done at any Brazilian consulate.
